| The Cranbury Bookworm opened it's doors in 1974 at 54 North Main Street, in the Historic Village of Cranbury, New Jersey...
Ralph Schremp, the late owner and proprietor of the Bookworm developed his love of books in the 1960's. Mr. Schremp began selling books in the early 1970's with his father. It did not take long for the Bookworm to expand into what it is today...
In it's earliest form, the Bookworm was a mobile store which was run out of Mr. Schremp's pick up truck. Many weekends were spent selling books at the Englishtown Flea Market.
The Bookworm only used one room when it moved into the historic Victorian 4 square house located at 54 North Main Street. By 1981, Ralph Schremp had acquired the entire building. There are currently more than 100,000 books in stock.
Mr. Schremp tragically passed away in April of 2002. The Bookworm has thankfully remained in business. Our business could not exist without our loyal customers. THANK YOU!!! There are some book lovers out there who have been shopping at our store for over 30 years. We look forward to making new friends, meeting new people, and buying more books.
