The Cranbury Bookworm opened it's doors in 1974 at it's current location - 54 North Main Street, in the Historic Village of Cranbury, New Jersey...
Ralph Schremp, the late owner and proprietor of the Bookworm developed a love of books in the 1960's. He started selling books in the early 1970's with his father.
The Bookworm actually started out as a mobile store which was run out of Schremps pick up truck. Mr. Schremp often sold books at the Englishtown Flea Market.
The Bookworm started out in only one room of the historic Victorian house located at 54 North Main Street. By 1981, Ralph Schremp had acquired the entire home for his books. There are currently more than 100,000 books in stock.
Mr. Schremp tragically passed away in April of 2002. The Bookworm has thankfully remained in business. Five years later, the Bookworm is alive and well. Our business could not exist without our customers. There are some book lovers out there who have been shopping at our store for over 30 years.
